Interested in Ballroom Dancing Lessons?

I used to be nervous during school dances. I mean, it’s one thing to be nervous about who is going to ask you out on a date— it’s an entirely different thing to look completely foolish in the dance floor. I didn’t know how to slow dance, much less any other kind of up-tempo dance. Today, I can say that I thoroughly enjoy dancing. So much so that I have taken up ballroom dancing lessons and I have been at it for quite a while now.

How about you, are you interested in taking ballroom dancing classes? If you are, then what’s stopping you? Maybe you got traumatized as a teenager. It didn’t stop me. In fact, it will help you become a well-rounded person because you pursue what you love to do regardless of how many bad experiences might have attached itself to it.

Other people really want to learn ballroom dancing but do not take the step because they are a little embarrassed about this cherished dream of theirs. You think other people might judge that you have no talent whatsoever and write you off without even giving you a chance. Friend, there will always be small-minded people out there, whatever station you find yourself in in life. If you want to make anything of yourself, you’ve got to look beyond that and follow your heart.

For others, the reason they are reluctant to take ballroom dancing classes is because they don’t want to be associated with ballroom. I know— a shocker for some of you but the truth is, there are people who appreciate the dance, but would rather be known as a straight-laced individual, levelheaded and unmoved by silly artistic things.

If this is you, you aren’t fooling anybody, much less yourself. You have to be true to yourself if you want to live free. More than that, everybody needs a little whimsy in their lives—everybody. It makes for texture and magic that an otherwise dreary life wouldn’t have. Believe me, you will live and sleep better when you allow yourself a little bit of fun in life.

Now, if you are running out of reasons why you shouldn’t buy those 2-inch gold, strappy ballroom dancing shoes then good—you really need a solid shaking that a good dancing session can give you. How about heading down that local dance studio and checking out the classes that they are offering? There are a lot of possible dances you can choose from: cha-cha, tango, swing, waltz— find one that catches your fancy, close your eyes and sign on the enrollment form’s dotted line.

If I had to go back in time, I wouldn’t be scared the next time the school dance comes rolling in. I’ll even round up some of my classmates, give them free ballroom dancing lessons and teach them how to slow dance myself (the sweaty palms, they have to figure out on their own). How about you? What would you do if you could do anything? Don’t let anything stop you from pursuing your heart’s desire and you will live a life free of regrets. Now that’s what I call a good life.
